State and local (S&L) IT spending is on the rise, from $2.33 billion in FY15 to an estimated $2.62 billion for FY16. This is expected to continue to rise through FY20 to over $3.3 billion.

FirstNet has taken a while to get off the ground, but appears to be moving forward with a draft RFP estimated to be released by the end of the year. While partly being completed in tandem with the FCC, NENA is also seeking to develop standards for NG911.
